Engine, transmission & Performance

The Honda City 5th generation offers one engine and one diesel option to its customers. The first option is powered by 1.5L, iVTEC, DOHC, Variable Timing Control (VTC), BS6 Petrol engine under its hood. It delivers a maximum power of 121 ps and a peak torque of 145 nm. This powertrain is used to improve combustion efficiency. It also reduces friction and lowers the emission. 

The second one is a diesel option. It is powered by a 1.5L, iDTEC, DOHC, BS6 engine under its hood. It generates a maximum power of 100 PS and a maximum torque of 200 nm. Honda offers a clean diesel engine to reduce the emission rates and helps in having greener earth.

Honda City 5th Generation’s petrol engine is mated with either a 6-speed transmission or a seven-speed CVT transmission. This transmission allows this sedan to have smooth rides. The petrol CVT variant has 7-speed paddle shifters, step-up shift and also breakdown shift control. This elevates the Honda City 5th Generation.

On the other hand, the diesel engine has the option of a six-speed manual gearbox only.

The all-new Honda City 5th Generation is a bit longer and wider, than the 4th generation. It has really upgraded its exterior styling. The front part of the 5th generation looks very bold and sleek. The grill has been wider and has a Chrome finishing. The grill also flaunts the Honda solid wing face signature. This really enhances the looks of the car. The front part also positions the full-LED headlamps and LED day running lights. The L-shaped LED turn indicators look very significant.

At the rear part, the LED tail lamps light up a Z-shaped 3D look. It also features uniform edge light along with LED side marker lights, which elevates the looks of the car and makes it more prominent. The R16 diamond-cut alloy wheels give a very sporty look to the car.

Interiors

The interiors of the Honda City 5th generation are very dynamically crafted. The dashboard looks very symmetrical and glossy dark wood gives contrast to it. The sedan has premium leather upholstery, making it look very classy. It features leather elbow rests, a center console, a shift knob, and knee pads. It has a very capacious cabin, which could easily accommodate five people. The cockpit is very ergonomically designed. It looks beautiful as well as supreme.

It offers an illuminated 506L cargo room. The seatback pockets have special pockets for smartphones. It has a very spacious glove box, front console, front center armrest, and rear armrest.

A technologically advanced, 20.3 cm touch screen display integrates into the dashboard. It comes up with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Honda City is the first car in Indian that comes with a feature to connect with Alexa. To make your ride more pleasant an 8 speaker sound system is offered to the customers.

The 5th Generation includes a lot of safety features in its safety net. It includes features like- 6 airbags, an agile handling assist, VSA, tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS WITH EBD, ISOFIX anchorages, rear parking sensors, and many others.

The Honda City 5th Generation is available at the starting ex-showroom price of Rs 10.99 lakh. It has a very spacious cabin, providing an ample amount of knee room. it also provides good powertrains and a CVT automatic for easy riding. This car suits better on Indian roads. But this car only offers standard features and lacks premium features. At this price range, Honda City has a major competitor in Suzuki Ciaz.
