New 2021 Yamaha MT-09: The Naked Motard

The LED twin-eye face further enhances its aggressive look. The radiator side fins, tank mounted air scoops and headlight winglets will surely grab your attention. The license plate mounted on swingarm is an exclusive feature which we have not seen in any motorcycle yet.

New 2021 Yamaha MT-09 Engine and Specs

This bike not only looks vibrant but has enough power in its belly to show its aggression. The new 2021 Yamaha MT-09 extracts its power from an 847 cc 3-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC engine which generates a whopping 115 horsepower and maximum torque of 87.5 Nm. This naked motard uses a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox to shift its power to the wheel. Like the Yamaha YZF-R1, MT-09 also uses Quick Shift System (QSS) which allows clutchless upshifts and downshifts.

The 180 mm wide rear tyre holds ground of all terrains

 

 

The 180 mm wide radial tyre mounted on 17inch rear wheel provides enough grip on the ground. Equipped with dual-channel ABS, This beast uses 298 mm dual disc disk brakes on the front and a single 245 mm disk brake for the rear wheel.

The key specification of the bike includes

The bike runs on a wheelbase of 1440 mm with an overall length of 2075 mm. The seat height is 820 mm with a minimum ground clearance of 135 mm. The wet weight of the vehicle is 193 kg when you have a full fuel tank of 14 L and oil tank of 3.4 L. The Japanese manufacturer claims a fuel efficiency of 18.8 kmpl.

The new 2021 Yamaha MT-09 is built on a diamond frame chassis and uses fully adjustable telescopic forks for the front suspension and swingarm with mono-shock absorber for the rear suspension.

The Game of Electronics

The digital speedometer console of MT-09 not only displays speed and distance travelled rather it acts as a small computer. Yamaha’s 3-position D-mode function lets you set the power mode from mild to aggressive. While the traction control along with ABS comes in effect when required. This enables the rider to attain a high level of control. The US version of MT-09 also has Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) which senses the slightest throttle input from the rider and calculates the ideal throttle valve opening. Yamaha has not made clear on its official site whether this feature is available in Indian version or not. It is also not clear if the Traction control system is manually adjustable.
