The seven-seat version of Tata Harrier was introduced at Auto Expo 2020. It was expected to launch in the first quarter of this fiscal year. But the COVID-19 pandemic changed the plan of Tata Motors like the others. Recently, Tata Motors has announced that they are planning to launch Gravitas and Hornbill in the last quarter of this fiscal year. Tata Gravitas is a 7 seater body-on-frame SUV while the Hornbill will be a compact SUV.
Tata Gravitas shares platform with Harrier. In fact, it is an extended version of Harrier. To accommodate 3rd row of seat and its head room, Gravitas will be 65mm longer and 80mm higher than Harrier. Like Harrier, it will be powered with same 2.0 L turbocharged Kryotec engine.

“ Going forward two additional models are going to come- Gravitas and Hornbill (codenames). Gravitas will be a seven-seater SUV while Hornbill will be a sub-compact SUV so we will have four SUVs in our portfolio which would be the widest portfolio. 2021 Tata Hornbill (HBX)
Hornbill was first introduced in the Geneva Motor show in 2019 and made its Indian debut during the exhibition of Auto Expo 2020. Tata’s next-gen compact SUV Hornbill is based on the ALFA platform. It is the same platform that is used by Tata Altroz.
As Hornbill is based on ALFA platform, You can expected some of the similar features likes of Altroz in Hornbill as well. These features may include,
- Flat rear floor
- 90-deg opening of doors
- Long wheelbase
- spacious cabin and boot space.
Hornbill will also source its power from the 1.2L Revotron petrol engine.
