Maruti Suzuki brought the Grand Vitara back to the Indian market in 2022. This premium SUV was discontinued in 2015. From 2015 to 2022 Maruti associated the term Vitara with its mid-size SUV Vitara Brezza which was quite a nice SUV with lots of practical features. But now in 2022, Japanese carmakers have stepped into the premium segment once again. As the name suggests, the premium SUV is really grand in terms of features and price as well. The base model of the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara costs Rs. 10.45 lakh. However, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara’s top model price goes all the way up to Rs. 19.49 lakh for the Alpha Plus (+) model.

The Grand Vitara Top Model Alpha Plus is equipped with an intelligent hybrid system. It uses both an electric motor and an internal combustion engine to supply power. The Alpha Plus variant has a slightly bigger engine of 1490 cc but gives less power output of 68 kW. The second power source of the SUV is an electric motor with a max power output of 59 kW. Overall, the Hybrid power system generates 85 kW which is the highest in all the variants. Also, the fuel efficiency of the Alpha Plus model is highest at 27.97 kmpl among all other variants of Grand Vitara.

Grand Vitara’s top model hosts some exclusive features that you might not find in lower variants. That includes a Panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats for the driver and co-driver, and a heads-up display for an easy riding experience. For a better sitting experience, Suzuki has added ambient lighting for the door spot and an IP Line. It has a 17.7-inch TFT digital instrument cluster, as opposed to a 10.6-inch TFT in lower variants. It also has a wireless charger in the central console. The lower variants of Grand Vitara have Arkamys Sound Tuning, whereas the top model, the Alpha Plus, has a Premium sound system with two tweeters. However, Suzuki has not provided the brand of the sound system.

Suzuki has only provided some of the basic safety features that can be found on any lower-variant car of any brand. It is very disappointing to find very few safety features, even at this price range. The exclusive safety features of the Alpha Plus variant include the Front side and curtain airbag, 360-view camera, and Tyre pressure monitoring system. It has all the other safety that you can get in the lower variants also. The other basic safety features include Dual front airbags, reverse parking sensor with camera, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Assist, Seat belt reminder, ISOFIX Child seat restraint system, day and night adjustable IRVM, and speed warning buzzer.

Before going for the Grand Vitara Alpha Plus, one should also look at the other options in this price range. Premium SUVs like MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, and Toyota Innova offer much more features and safety at this price range. Even the safety ratings of the other SUVs are higher than Maruti Suzuki.
