Overview

The Lyriq is a long-legged, luxuriously appointed electric vehicle with enough high-tech features to make any Tesla owner rethink their lifestyle choices. It also comes at a price that is compelling.
The Lyriq shares its technology with the formidable GMC Hummer EV Pickuppickup truck because it is based on GM’s Ultium scalable battery architecture. Cadillac adds all-wheel drive (AWD), three trim levels, more paint, new upholstery options, and enhanced feature offerings for 2024. The Lyriq faces competition from the Tesla Model Y, Genesis GV70 Electric, Rivian R1S, and Audi Q8 E-Tron, all of which are electric luxury SUVs. It is evaluated at a cutthroat beginning cost of $58590.

What’s new in Cadillac Lyriq for 2024?

For 2024, Cadillac has simplified the Lyriq lineup by introducing three distinct trim levels with progressively more features. The base model is called Tech and highlights the section level 340-hp single-engine electric powertrain, however, this model’s reach has dropped from an expected 312 miles for every charge to 308. The top-spec Sport has a more aggressive exterior with darkened chrome trim and unique grille treatment, while the entry-level Luxury trim adds more desirable features.

At the front, Lyriq is decorated with an illuminated black Crystal Shield instead of a grille. The Lyriq comes standard with 20-inch wheels and a wheelbase that is nearly identical to that of the Cadillac XT5. 22-inch wheels are also available in Luxury and Sport trims. It seems like a more drawn-out vehicle because of its more than adequate hood line. Having said that, there is no space for storage in the front, which will disappoint all of the people who adore vintage cars.

Interior, Infotainment, comfort, and cargo

The Lyriq exudes an air of opulence thanks to its lavishly decorated interior. On the door panels and center console, open-pore wood is mixed with metallic brightwork. An enormous stockpiling plate on the floor between the driver and front traveler is fixed with radiant blue calfskin upholstery, which fills in as a brassy pop of variety. The production Lyriq has adopted a more conventional rear bench seat, despite the concept car having only four seats and a center console that divided the two front and two rear seats and featured a touchscreen for passengers in the rear seats. The Lyriq employs cutting-edge noise cancellation technology to reduce road noise in addition to the fact that it does not have a gasoline engine, which undoubtedly contributes to the quiet cabin. Although the interior is spacious, Cadillac has not included any storage under the hood and the cargo space is not as generous as it is in other SUVs.

Cargo

The Lyriq has 28 cubic feet of freight space behind its back seats and 60.8 cubic feet with those seats collapsed. That is about normal for an electric SUV. There is ample room for carry-on bags, boxes, and the occasional large item in the cargo area, which is both narrow and deep. Under the floor of the cargo area, there is also an additional compartment for charging equipment and other things.

Infotainment

Similar to the Escalade’s dashboard, the Lyriq’s is dominated by a massive, curved, advanced LED touchscreen that measures 33.0 inches and serves as both the infotainment system for the SUV and the gauge display for the driver. It almost extends from pillar to pillar along the entire dashboard. It is a single piece of glass with three displays: The main display, the Instrument cluster behind the steering wheel, and a third to the left of the instrument cluster.

A click wheel on the center console can also be used to control the infotainment system. Standard features include Wi-Fi hotspot, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. All models include an AKG high-end audio system with 19 speakers and a rich sound.

EV power and performance

The Lyriq has a 340-horsepower electric motor on the rear axle and comes standard with rear-wheel drive. With this passage level arrangement, the speed increase is sufficient and the Lyriq feels responsive. An optional dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain with 500 horsepower adds a second motor to drive the front wheels.

General Engines’ new Ultium EV battery was launched last year with the Lyriq. The automaker is able to produce batteries with capacities ranging from 50.0 kWh to 200 kWh thanks to scalable technology, though the largest capacity is said to be reserved for large EV pickup trucks like the GMC Hummer EV SUT. The battery in the 2024 Lyriq has a capacity of 102.0 kWh and an estimated driving range of 307 miles for the dual-motor model and 308 miles for the single-motor model on a single charge.

2024 Cadillac Lyriq Trims and price

You can get the Tech trim for just $58,590. The Tech trim gains a few nice features from the Luxury and Sport trim levels, which only slightly raise the price to $62,690 and $63,190, respectively. AWD is also available on all three trims. The AWD can be added to any trim by paying an extra $3,500.
